What to expect

Your visits, step by step

Nobody likes walking into a healthcare appointment blind. Here is exactly what happens, in what order, and roughly how long each part takes.

Our two care paths

If your body hurts

Chiropractic

We provide advanced spinal correction using state-of-the-art chiropractic techniques. Care is customized to the patient and may include both traditional correction methods and newer techniques that some patients find more comfortable and effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Diana Tole, DC has years of training and experience in spinal adjustments. We offer care for the whole family including pediatrics, pregnancy and postpartum care, athlete care, and the long-lived.

If you feel unwell but tests look normal

Functional Medicine

Offering functional medicine allows us to take a more holistic approach to your care. Taking your unique genetics, environment and health history into account can increase the effectiveness of treatment and long-term health. Assessments may include lab work (blood, stool and urine testing), nutritional assessment, physical exercise recommendations, lifestyle advice, and stress reduction techniques.

If a tendon won’t settle

Shockwave Therapy

Radial pressure wave therapy for stubborn tendon and fascia pain — plantar fasciitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, Achilles tendinopathy. Assessment first, then a short course of sessions paired with a progressive loading programme. It is a cash service, quoted up front, and we will tell you plainly if your presentation isn’t a good fit for it.

No surprises

Know exactly what your first visits look like

Nobody likes walking into an appointment blind. Here’s the actual sequence, with honest time estimates.

  1. Initial Examination

Collecting and discussing a detailed health history is of utmost importance. A thorough physical exam may include neurological and orthopedic testing, posture analysis and joint range-of-motion evaluation. If needed, we offer digital X-rays on site. Expect ample one-on-one time with the doctor.

    About 1 hour
  2. Report of Findings

We want you in the loop. We detail your treatment plan, treatment frequency, and the results of your exam and/or X-ray. We’ll discuss what to expect in the coming weeks, during a typical treatment, and what our approach to your condition will be.

    About 30 minutes
  3. Ongoing Treatment

We use a variety of techniques to tailor an individualized treatment. From traditional manual adjustments to low-force tool-based adjustments, your comfort is our first priority. We use heat, traction (stretching) tables, and percussion to promote relaxation prior to your adjustment.

    About 20 minutes

New patient offer

New Patient Chiropractic Exam

Consultation, full exam, and digital X-rays on site if clinically needed. Plus a full hour of one-on-one time with Dr. Diana Tole, DC — not fifteen minutes.

New chiropractic patients only. Not billable to insurance or federal healthcare programs; Medicare, Medi-Cal and personal-injury cases are excluded. Offer covers the initial exam only, not treatment. [CONFIRM WITH GRIFALL: chiropractic exams, digital X-ray and insurance billing happen at their office on their equipment. Check this offer is Five Factor’s to advertise before it goes live.]
Practicalities

Cost, coverage and paperwork

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care costs the same as, or less than, other types of health care and is included in most health insurance plans. We’ll verify your benefits before your first visit if you call with your card.

[VERIFY: list accepted plans, in-network status, and the cash rate for ongoing visits. Cost opacity is the number one reason enquiries stall.]

Functional Medicine

Consult time, specialty lab panels and supplements are generally not covered by insurance. Some patients can apply HSA or FSA funds. Everything is quoted up front — you will not get a surprise invoice from us.

[VERIFY: consult fee, typical panel price ranges, HSA/FSA eligibility.]

Bring your old labs. For functional medicine especially, previous bloodwork going back a couple of years is genuinely valuable — it shows trend rather than a single snapshot, and it may save you money on re-testing.

Appointment questions

How long is each appointment?

Initial chiropractic examination: about an hour. Report of Findings: about 30 minutes. Ongoing chiropractic treatment: about 20 minutes. Functional medicine initial consult: about 30 minutes, with the Case Review running a full hour. Times are approximate.

Which appointment do I book first?

If something hurts, book the chiropractic initial examination. If you feel unwell without a clear structural cause, start with the functional medicine consult. If you genuinely don’t know, call (408) 778-6770 and describe it — we’ll tell you which one, and we’d rather do that than have you book the wrong thing.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your ID and insurance card, a list of any medications and supplements you take, and any relevant previous imaging or lab results. For functional medicine, bring every blood test you can get your hands on from the last couple of years — old results are genuinely useful.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Avoid restrictive belts or thick pocket contents. No gowns required.

Will I be treated on the first visit?

Not usually, and that’s deliberate. The first visit is examination and, if needed, imaging. Treatment starts once Dr. Diana has reviewed everything and walked you through the plan at your Report of Findings, so you’re agreeing to something specific rather than open-ended.

Can I do both chiropractic and functional medicine?

Many patients do, and it’s a large part of why this practice exists. The two run in parallel with the same doctor, so you tell your story once.
